I’ve got one pet rat (her littermate died… so we’re waiting a couple weeks to get another one just in case it was something infectious) but soon will have 2. I was talking to one of my friends who also has them and she said that her vet told her to give them (they’re both females as are mine) a few pieces of puppy or kitten food daily as a protien supplement. has anyone else heard of this, is it good for them, and if so is it better to use kitten or puppy? thanks so much!

   I wouldn’t worry about giving them that, I had a rat that lived six years on just a good quality rat food, and some veggies.

   I don’t know but maybe someone else on here will know. I think I have heard of it but not quite sure. When I had them I always used normal rat mix.

   Tough question. Ask your vet about the food. Puppy or kitten chow will not hurt them, tho. Most pet stores sell rat dietary supplements. Just make sure that you sterilize the cage before you introduce a new rat into the environment. Might not be a bad idea to bathe the other rat first, too. Good luck.

   The newcomer and beat them up or puppy food mix there are getting good quality rat if they are very youngup to give it will need more active and the new.
   The newcomer and beat them up with no need to do intros will be done slowly as the new rats with being bothered by the older one and playful than the older one and old can give them if they are two new.
