African Giant Millipede owners what do you feed your pet?
Filed Under Natural Pet Suppliments | 1 Comment
I have an African Giant Black Millipede who is about 2 years old I think. He was handed to me from a previous owner and since I love animals and have worked at a zoo for a while, I guess I was the best home.
I feed him cucumbers, lettuce and salad type things. Working at the zoo I was told they should be supplemented occasionally. I bought some tortoise pellets since they are salad eaters as well but Roto, my pet, won’t eat it.
Maybe it’s because I put them in with cucumbers and if you put the broccoli next to candy of course the kid picks candy right?
Just wondering, what do you supplement your pets with?
And how long have they been on it?

I just got a male beta fighting fish and this is my first fish “pet”. They say to supplement him live food to keep the coloring outstanding, etc. My question is what can I feed him live? Brine shrimp and bloodworms have to be bought at the store, can I go in my backyard and give him some yummy treats like ants or mosquitos, little crickets, etc?

I have a three year old pitbull that was diagnosed with cancer on Feb 18th after she went in at 2:00am for emergency surgery. They gave her 19-45 days to live. Since then I have been trying every remedy possible to save her. From an all natural diet to vitamins and supplements. Today she became ill with vomiting and was taken into the vets office. They couldn’t tell exactly what was going on with her, only that she has an infection. So I have come to understand that she will soon be leaving me. Should I give up on the vitamins and meals that she is not so crazy about? I know that she prefers her kibble but I am just wondering if I stop trying to help her am I giving up? I have researched the disease and only found one success story. Just wondering pet owners what would you do in my situation?

Does anyone remember “Pet Sparky”? I’m told it was a supplement fed to dogs to promote longevity and health.

If you don’t remember this product, but know of another that also promotes dog health and longevity I’d appreciate it if you’d share the name of the product. Thanks.
Thanks for your answer Smiley. You said your Dad used to use it. Do you know if they still make it; if not, does your Dad use a different product now?

I need your opinion, pet owners!
I do a lot of work on my clinic’s website, and have been thinking that it might be worth our while to allow clients to put in for refills on their pet’s medication online rather than having to call. This would mean…
There would be a 3-business day wait for online refills as opposed to 24-hr for refills called in.
Any problems with refills would mean you would be contacted within 3 days rather than within the same day (ie, if your pet is due for bloodwork). This would not apply for any OTC meds, like vitamins, supplements, flea/tick control, or for heartworm prevention.
Would you use it? What are the pros/cons in your opinion?

How can you find safe nutritional supplements online?
Filed Under Natural Pet Suppliments | 4 Comments
I am interested in purchasing a nutritional supplement at the best price. At the same time I want to know that what is being put into the body is safe. How can I find a reputable online source?
With melamine being found in pet food and baby formula I consider this a very relevant question.

Is it safe to give CoQ10 or grape seed extract supplements to my dog?

They sell these products at the pet store and online, but I think the ones I take personally are higher quality. Are there any difference between the products made for human or pets other than the mg content?

OK … first … I know nothing whatsoever about rodents of any kind.
One of my kids “rescued” a rat that its owner didn’t really want anymore … the owner planned to sell or give it to a pet store, probably to become food for a snake or something. She’d been kept in an enclosure with 2 other rats.
So, we’re keeping her. Today, we heard a funny noise, kinda a squeaky noise … and discovered she’d had babies. Hmm. Eleven babies, we think … hard to get an accurate count, but that’s as close as we can tell.
So, my question … do we need to do anything? Will she be able to care for them fine on her own? Or does she need any help? Special food? Supplements? Special bedding or nesting material?
We’ve only had the rat just over a week and she hasn’t been handled much. We had no idea that she was pregnant!
And … what to do with the babies once they’re older? Nope, I’m NOT keeping 11 more rats! I **** the thought of them being used as food for another animal, so would it be best to try to give them away as pets?
Sorry I seem so clueless … I just really want to do what’s right! Any help or advice would be appreciated!
Thank you.
